The NY Campaign Program is an intensive winter-break strategic communication experience in the world’s media capital. Students get to work inside the New York flagship office of a major global agency to produce a comprehensive integrated campaign plan for one of the agency’s blue-chip clients while earning three hours of upper-division Journalism specialty course credit.
The program offers two separate, simultaneous options:
Participants are divided into teams to research, develop and present their plans, providing a collaborative experience similar to what agency professionals go through every day. Teams receive continual coaching and feedback from faculty program directors while also interacting with and learning from professional staff at the agency. On the final day, each team formally presents its work to agency and client representatives.
This hands-on program is a chance to immerse yourself, apply your skills and strengthen your expertise related to many different aspects of strategic communication and agency work, including:
The program includes housing and the opportunity to attend group cultural excursions including a Broadway show and an evening at the Metropolitan Opera, the nation’s largest performing arts organization. The timing of this program enables participants to enjoy a final bit of holiday cheer along with New Year’s festivities in New York City.

The Missouri School of Journalism attempts to make the costs of studying abroad affordable for you. Generally, study abroad experiences cost a bit more than a summer semester completed on-campus at MU. It is highly recommended that students outline a budget that considers what they might spend during the program. Students on this program pay MU educational fees as though taking classes on campus for the Spring. The cost of the trip includes lodging and an MU Study Abroad fee, which is applied toward costs associated with orientation programs, administration, and staff assistance.
