Health & Safety:
Withdrawals:
- Upon acceptance to any MU Journalism Abroad program, students confirm intentions to participate in the chosen study abroad program.
- The acceptance agreement is a firm commitment to participate in a study abroad program. If an emergency makes participation impossible, students should notify the Global Programs Office immediately in writing.
- Students are responsible for the completion of all necessary forms and procedures by the posted deadlines.
- Students must attend all mandatory orientations and meetings as designated by the Global Programs Office. Failing to do so may result in dismissal from the program and forfeiture of fees.

Registration & Funding / Financial Aid:
- Participating students will work with the Global Programs staff to complete individual study abroad course registration in MyZou.
- Only Global Programs staff may withdraw or drop any part of the study abroad course enrollment on individual student accounts. Adjustments made by anyone outside of Global Programs staff will result in a penalty fee of $100 to reinstate registration.
- Students are responsible to secure approval of courses and credit from academic advisor(s) prior to going abroad and to remain in contact with the appropriate advisors while on-site.
- Students will contact academic advisor(s), International Admissions advisor, if appropriate, and study abroad advisor(s) in the above-mentioned process. (It is not the responsibility of my study abroad advisor to approve credit.)
- Students should thoroughly review all financial obligations relevant to the study abroad experience prior to departure.
Health & Safety:
- All students on journalism abroad programs will be required to have a data plan on their cell phone. This could be an international data plan purchased through a provider in America or a data plan purchased through a provider in the host country. In addition, those on internship programs abroad must have a local phone number for use on site, together with an international data plan.
- All students must inform their on-site faculty director AND the Global Programs Office of side-trip travel plans which occur outside of the initial program destination and which coincide with the dates of the program.
- All students must check in on the Global Programs Emergency Hotline: +1 573-818-3820 should something occur in the local area of the program which is of a catastrophic nature. Global Programs staff will also contact students, but timing will be critical so that if students are able to contact Global Programs, they should do so immediately.

- Students are responsible for any program fees already incurred if withdrawing from MU Journalism Abroad programs. These fees may include, but are not limited to the non-refundable deposit and housing and airfare costs already incurred.
- Students who withdraw before or during a program due to a medical reason(s) may receive all uncommitted portions of the appropriate deposit. A written excuse is required, together with 7-10 days review on the appeal.
- Students who choose to withdraw from any part of the program once arriving in-country, must agree to return home within three (3) days from the date of the withdrawal.
